Squeak!?!? (2010-06-19)
I have a love/hate relationship with these shoes! They took forever to break-in. Once I did break them in, my right shoe started squeaking, with every step I took. Very odd, I have never had a pair of shoes do this. Now, a few weeks after the right shoe started, the left shoe squeaks. Yes, squeaks. With every step. Unfortunately, I love the look of the shoes, they go with everything. But, I dislike walking in them (oh, they only squeak on hard surfaces, which other than grass- is all I walk on.) And now that summer is here, I have pretty wacky tan lines from the cross-crossing straps.
Bottom line, I would suffer through the break in period again for another pair, if I knew for sure the next pair wouldn't squeak after a few months time.
Extremely comfortable (2009-11-21)
These are good quality, and extremely comfortable for all day running around (if worn with socks).
Stylish casual shoes. (2009-10-24)
They are great! The foot is held in place by the elastic but the elastic does not feel tight, pinch or bind and they are easily slipped on and off. They are casual but not too much so - no obvious tennis shoes look, they are stylish, multicolor styles are versatile, can be worn with skirts even. Minimal to no break in period, too.
Also, I have been struggling with plantar fasciitis for six months now; it's awful! Wearing these regularly is helping the heel heal, no more stabbing pain. An examination of the (removable) insole explained why. The construction of the insole is dense foam. The insole is approximately 1/4" thick at the ball of the foot but increases in thickness for a substantial arch support area and at the heel the insole foam is about 1" thick. This makes a world of difference - it REALLY takes the pressure off of the heel. Highly recommended.
(as an aside, this may be what is making them squeak for some - although I haven't noticed this.)
Update March 2010-I have been wearing these shoes and they really have helped deal with the fasciitis This is a great relief and again I sing the praises of this shoe: Update July 2010-the fasciitis was gone this summer!
More re. sizing: my experience tells me the sizing on this style of shoes varies BY COLOR ... the black shoes are decidedly smaller than the brown/fuschia ones.
Cute and comfortable (2009-06-27)
The Privo Jetty runs true to size and width. The elastic straps are comfortable and supportive without being constricting. I wear these shoes with skirts,jeans and capris. They look great with or without socks. I have owned 7 pair of Privo shoes and these are by far my favorite. The fuchsia color is stylish without being garish (the fuchsia nubuck is complimented by the tan upper fabric.
I like the smoother bottom on the Jettty but have yet to test it out in inclement weather.
